Tossed Radicchio Salad, 58″ x 58″, Bondville, Vermont, 2023.

It’s almost the end of the year, and it’s really snowing now. Vermont is always beautiful, rain or shine. But the cold temperatures (we go from the teens to 30s these days) make me feel like settling in and making easy quilts. So I have started a series of scrap busters, so-called quilt-as-you-go quilts. The first one is called Blacks-Grays-Whites. Which got me wanting more! I turned to the purple and green scraps. I have always admired Jean Wells (and her daughter Valori too), and her Tossed Salad quilt made back in the 1990s. So I applied that idea to this one. I had to change the title slightly to reflect the strong amethyst sparkle it seems to have. I really like this method, and enjoy the sashing technique. Fun!
