Original design wall hanging of a stunningly beautiful moon I saw one extremely cold January night at my local Dog Park, seen through the branches of a willow tree. Hand pieced, appliqued and quilted. Joan Blalock’s landscape string piecing method. (Private Collection)
This image has become my quilt-making motif, used on all my quilt labels and business cards.

Excerpt from my quilt journal:
7/4/2000
I have done all the piecing and the border, and it is basted. I removed my first attempt at appliqueing the branch I saw the moon through. Jane suggested that I use the actual branch which I have. I think I’ll finish it by appliqueing the branch using the free-form method I saw in American Quilter magazine (summer 2000).
