Hen Rietta, 29″ x 29″, Vermont, 2022

To get myself back into my favorite fusible-web appliqué work, I decided to create a quilt in memory of an old friend who has passed away. This will be my kitchen quilt, featuring an exquisite French Bresse hen named after my dear friend Henrietta Dickison. I started it in September 2021 and completed it finally in September 2022!

This is based on a pattern by Laura Heine which I re-drew, and fusible-web appliquéd. Not finished yet, I got sidetracked by EPP, but I’ll get back on it soon. On the left is my re-draw of the pattern, the center image is a photo of the actual bird I’m trying to create, and on the right is the state of it right now, the top is completed.

This quilt will be in the Bennington QuiltFest, September 2022.
