A mariner’s compass flying through space for my baby brother’s high school graduation gift (not completed until Christmas). He designed the yellow ‘free thoughts’ zooming through space in the background. The compass representing guidance is Foundation Paper Pieced, and the ‘free thoughts’ are appliqued, reverse appliqued and curve-pieced. The surface is machine quilted.
Because I was so delighted to be reconnected after 20 years with Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP) via a small project called Vermont Goggles, I am starting on a new FPP Piece. Yet again, the paper blocks that the kids did at last years Bondville Fair (2025) were great! So I made another quilt using Spoonflower to print photo images of them, then I used Photoshop to compose the blocks.. Long-arm Quilted by Penny Allen. Raffled at the fair.
My friend LBW came to visit me for a weekend in June 2026, and we had a lot of fun working on a hexie wall hanging. We collaborated on the fabric, the composition, and the sewing and quilting. This is a raffle quilt for the Bondville Fair Quilt Show 2026. It is made with the more antique quilt blocks donated by Carolyn Harris, made by her mother and aunts between the 1940 - 60s. It was longarm quilted by Penny Allen.
