QuiltWorks

Most of what I’ve been up to is in What’s Going On, which will bring you up to the minute. But 2023 has been a big year for quilt making!

I was also able to complete Milo’s Bargello, a quilt-as-you-go scrap quilt, Gypsy Party, And Read All Over, and an Antique Butterfly Quilt top, and other pieces from last year. I am also working on preliminary designs for a commemorative quilt for the 225th of our Bondville Fair. I am also working on a quilt a quilt for the Fair called Snow Making Pond. Excitingly for me, I was able to begin my first La Passacaglia quilt! My first rosette taught me that I can handle this quilt in its original size (small!). I am enjoying it!

Last year I completed Alice Nova, Hen Rietta, Whacky Butterflies and My New Obsession. The newly re-discoverd English Paper Piecing (EPP) technique has gripped me, so I’m training myself on this technique, I hope to offer EPP classes or demonstrations this year too.

Teaching Fabric Collage Workshops at local learning organizations has been a part of my quilting life too. See GMALL (Green Mountain Academy of Lifelong Learning). and one at the Mt Airy Learning Tree, in April 2021.

Since 1997, I have been striving to make unique, original quilts under Karoline Wallace QuiltWorks. I sometimes take commissions, but mostly I make quilts based on images and ideas which inspire and thrill me. Here is my Artist Statement describing my general quilting ideas and methods.

Well, I’m also head-over-heels in love with bag making. Designer Sally Thompson’s Bionic Gear Bag and the byAnnie patterns are amazing and I highly recommend them. I was so impressed by the Bionic Gear Bags that I made over a dozen of them which you can check out here. I hope to be teaching at least one of these wonderful project in a class at some point. So much fun!

My own impressionistic landscapes are now my passion, along with my playtime with Rimpas and English Paper Piecing. Here is my take on traditional quilt patterns with my own twist. I have also been obsessed with hand work and have done many hand appliqué quilts.  I hope you enjoy looking through all this.  I’ve certainly enjoyed laying it all out for you!
